concert last nite at the old church in Sutton. You guys
are wonderful, funny, great singing, etc. I know you've
been around for a long time but I've never heard of you.
My cousin sat next to me and she's from the area and
never heard of you either. You should give yourselves
more exposure..."
Allow me to introduce you (and your cousin) to possibly the best folk band
you’ve never heard (of): Plainfolk.
In a nutshell, this is a Worcester, MA
based folk band that has been together for 28 years and
whose music is being heard around the globe.
Consider the following:
▶ Plainfolk's music is played on
local and regional radio, National Public Radio and the
BBC;
▶ It is featured on local, regional and national
television, including the History Channel;
▶ Plainfolk's “Fireman's Prayer” has been adopted by the
International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) for
use at ceremonies and is part of the repertoire of the Tokyo, Japan Fire
Department Brass Band;
▶
Plainfolk's “Blackstone Valley”
is the unofficial anthem of the Blackstone River Valley
National Heritage Corridor;
▶ A live performance of Plainfolk's “Amoskeag Mill” is
featured on Boston Channel 5 television's “Chronicle”
show "New England Mill Makeovers".
▶ Plainfolk twice represented the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at the Kennedy Center for the
Performing Arts in Washington DC.

Plainfolk
has now released six
CDs: 1-Live at Mechanics Hall,
2-Under the Influence, 3-The
View From Here, 4-Fireman's
Prayer (single), 5-Smiley Face Song
(single)
and in April, 2006 6-Past Due.
▶ Plainfolk's latest CD - "Past Due" features
original songs of
local icons with historical appeal including: Blackstone
Valley, Union Station, The Last Waltz at Enfield (Quabbin
Reservoir),
Skinner Mountain (Hadley), Halifax Down, Perfect Storm and Old
Stone Walls. They Sailed, Spirit, and Keepers of
Your Flame are songs with a patriotic and inspirational
theme.
▶ Plainfolk has been a featured performer at First
Night Worcester several times.
So keep an
eye on their schedule for Plainfolk may be
coming to a village or town near you. And if you
