| Description: "Under the Influence" is Plainfolk's first CD release
(their first recording project was "Live at Mechanics Hall"
and released on
cassette only format). The title is not about what many
people usually think it is but instead is meant to imply
the contents reflect the influence of the folk masters whose music
is included on the CD. The CD is a compilation of
tunes of the artists who influenced Plainfolk's style -
ranging from Woody Guthrie to the Journeymen to the Wolfetones and others and is performed in the style of
60's American folk scene when 3, 4 and 5 man folk groups
were dominant. Simply stated it contains
folk songs of Ireland, America and the sea in between.
